We are studying how Na,K-ATPase activity is regulated through the action of Src family tyrosine kinases (SFKs). Curiously, SFK activation can be required for either Na,K-ATPase activation or inhibition. We think, perhaps, that different SFKs trigger different responses. To study activation of specific SFKs we examine phosphorylation of the kinase using a combination of immunoprecipitation and western blot analysis.
